Mom & Dad in April 2008

As normal, lots going on!!!! During April, mom was released as Beehive Counselor in the Ward Young Women's Presidency and called into the Stake Young Women's Presidency as 2nd Counselor. She hates the loss of the one on one relationships with the girls, but.... Dad was busy with scouts...as usual! There was NRA Shotgun Certification, Range Safety Officer Certification and too many other scouting activities to list.

Our major event was a six day trip down to Cancun, Mexico. We left Thursday the 24th and returned Wednesday the 30th. The weather was fantastic as you can see in the photos. This was both business and pleasure so it did include some (really very little) work commitment (but it was paid for so who's complaining?). We stayed at the Dream's Cancun Spa and Resort. The food and activities were great! Above is the view from our two story room - pretty tough to take!

We were able to participate in a number of activities that included:

  • a day of golf for dad while mom had a spa treatment (after golf dad had a massage also).
  • a half-day catamaran trip to a nearby island for snorkeling and a village visit...the homemade ice cream was yummy.
  • a 4-hour pirate ship dinner and entertainment cruise (wasn't near worth the $200 master card cost), but the companionship was yes, "priceless".
  • a full day trip to Chichen Itza were we saw the Book of Mormon ruins...at least that's what we knew them to be...the Mayan tour guide had another story that wasn't very convincing.
  • visiting one of the 8,000 sink holes in the Yucatan
  • watching all the girls in their bikinis (that was dad's activity...oops, that's not correct, at least that's his story, he was really studying the tattoos not watching the girls.
  • another spa treatment for dad...he was really worn out from all the hard work.
  • of course a trip to the shops downtown for some spending of the peso's.

We got home Wednesday evening and had no leaks or other damages to the home...ye ha! Oh, the day after our return it snowed all day in Denver...when will this *!#@ winter end? And dad drove the vette to work and it got snowed on...oh no, the world is coming to an end!

Here's a couple more photos of the trip to enjoy. One is of the catamaran trip and the other of Chichen Itza.
