It happened!!!!

So May was a fun, complicated, frustrating, happy month. I got a new job within the same company. I am no longer the receptionist; I am an account specialist. I basically am an assistant to the VP of Finance. I love it. It is more flexible and relaxing. I also got to see Fiddler on the Roof with Paul. It was amazing. Then after a month of discussing things and trying to make decisions, Paul proposed! He took me to the restuarant where we went on our first date. It is an Indian restuarant. There was a private small cute room. We walked in and there were 2 dozen roses on the table...purple and red :) We ate and then he told me about some things and got down on one knee and proposed. He also gave me a statue of a family. It is from South Africa where he served his mission. We are getting married on September 4th in Draper so look for the announcement. I am extremely happy :)

Hi from Mom and Dad

After all of our activities and trips in April, we stayed home in May. Well almost, I spent the first few days of May in Colorado Springs with 3 cute little girls. Nicole and Taylor are modeling the head bands that Grandma Mortensen made them. Kaylee wore hers to school, so I missed a picture with hers on.Our main activity for May was our long awaited garage sale. We had it planned for a year ago, but the timing didn't work, and then for October, but a snow storm interferred, so finally this May worked. Dad took the week off and we spent a few day hauling stuff and junk up from the basement and other parts of the house. After 37 years, I finally got new dishes and put in the garage sale, my non-microsafe dishes. Sold all of them for $5.00. Our basement is now clean and organized, we have a few empty closets, and empty cupboards in the kitchen. It was hard work, but well worth it.
I will disagree with John (read his blog) and say that May is the best month of the year. For the my birthday, dad, Mollie and I drove to Estes Park for a art show, lunch, and shopping. The show was was fun. Mollie and I found to brass bracelets, and the highlight was the ice cream shop selling only BLUE BELL ICE CREAM shipped in from Texas. Of course, I had birthday cake ice cream and it was amazing.
For my birthday, I asked for an ipod, but what I got was the new ipad. Talk about amazing! I am still trying to figure it all out, but I have the scriptures, church magazines, free books (Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Persuasion) all of the music from my computer and of course, Spider Solitaire. I have not yet figured out, how to put my pictures on it, but give my time. I have been to the Apple Store once with about 6 questions, and I am sure that I will go back.
Dad has been busy with church and work. Not much traveling, which is good and still going twice a week to the gym and the other days riding the stationery bike.

Life of a College Grad

Hello Everybody. Hope all of those mothers out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Woot Woot, time for the most important month of the year. JUNE. I think Mollie and Tiffany would agree with me on this one. During May it snowed! A lot! Below is a picture of the parking lot outside of my work. This was mid May. To say the least I was not very happy.

Well, my first month of being a college grad was a busy one. I have my own office, picture is below. I was averaging a little over 50 hours a week this past month. One week I had almost 60 hours. Got to love the overtime. I was mainly working on two different projects. The new Deseret Towers Housing at BYU and the Utah NSA Data Center at Camp Williams. We did not win the bid for BYU housing, but we have a few more projects we are bidding on and are hopeful. We submit our proposal on the Data Center in a week. Then towards the end of the summer the government will award the winning team. I wish I could tell y'all more, but I can't. After we submit our proposal on the Data Center things will slow down, hopefully not to much.

Pi'ikea was also pretty busy at work. There was a Saturday or two were she had five or so appointments. However, things are starting to slow down at work for her as while. The spa hired two more therapist which means fewer clients for Pi'ikea. She does have random appointments every now and again with her friends. Later this month her friend Jill and her have a weekend long event. I really don't remember what it is for though.

In other news Pi'ikea and I were released from out church calling of being primary teachers. We taught the 4 year old class. We will miss our cute little kids, but we are excited to be back with the rest of the ward. It is funny, only a handful of people realize we are in the ward. We see somebody and they say, "Are you new here?" Nope we actually teach your kid in primary. Other than that nothing much has happened. Hope everybody enjoys their June.

The Johnson Family

Hello Family-
The month of May was wonderful - one word to sum it up - BUSY!! We are crazy BUSY!!
Here is what is going on with us:

1) Warren is making progress on the basement. Framing is pretty much DONE and he is now working on the plumming. His pore wrists are hurting because of tearing apart the concrete floor to move some plumming around.

Every time Warren does something DANGEROUS he wants me to take a picture. While Warren was doing the above, the fire alarm went off about 4 times in 8 minutes and the girls were screaming

2) LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - Kaylee is now a 3rd grader and Nicole is going to repeat Kindergarten, BUT do it at Kaylee's school next year. They had a wonderful year. Kaylee got all A's and Nicole's test scores jumped up 1 entire point. Nicole's handwriting is also improving a ton. Thankfully, Nicole gets to have extra tutoring this summer - 3 days of one hour a day for 3 weeks. YAY!! We love extra help.

3) LAKE POWELL TRIP WITH FRIENDS and WASHINGTON, DC

First, I have no pictures of the trip because we forget our camera and had to use the work camera which ran out of batteries....but, Warren and I went to Washington, DC at the beginning of May and it was wonderful!! I want to go back. Pat and Mom watched the girls for us and I was so grateful!! If I ever find the pictures, I will post them on my blog. It was such a wonderful experience and fun to get the history bug again.

The week before school ended, we went to Lake Powell with 3 other families for 7 days. We stayed on a house boat and had a wonderful time.

The boys on the trip loved to catch lizards. My girls were pretty fascinated with the reptiles. By the end of the week, the boys had about 8 bottles full of lizards.

Kaylee got up on 2 skis without the skis being attached. She loved it and did a wonderful job.

The girls each took a turn riding on the surf board with Daddy. Taylor screamed and screamed. Nicole held on for dear life and Kaylee loved it.

One of the days was extremely windy, so we were stuck on the houseboat all day long. Kaylee had the idea of doing a talent show and the kids loved it. Kaylee showed how flexible she was and Taylor/Nicole did a dance.

The Mom's of the group would get in the freezing cold water wearing our life jackets as diapers so we could wash our hair. Our children LOVED it and would laugh and laugh.

Our lovely home - all of the families slept on the roof of the houseboat. It was such a wonderful time sleeping under the stars. A snapshot moment in my memory.

Kaylee loved reading a little bit everyday.

4)IMMIGRATION DAY FOR KAYLEE
The much anticipated day of the year finally came - Immigration Day. The school was turned into Ellis Island and the 2nd graders went through all the tests - they were checked for lice, given a test, showed their passports and family geneology. Kaylee was of course from Iceland and went above and behind her assignment. She prepared alittle talk and brought samples of Icelandic Food - pickled eggs. Surprisingly, the kids LOVED them.

5) MOTHER'S DAY
The day was great. Kaylee made me waffles, and the girls each bought me something nice. Warren bought me a BEAUTIFUL pearl necklace - lOVE IT!

6) NICOLE IS 6 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS SWEET GIRL

Nicole's favorite present was this American Girl Baby. She named her Kayla and loves her!!

I love this picture. She was so excited about her "Jonas Brother's" birthday cake. She wanted a Red Velvet cake - she definately keeps us guessing.

Nicole's birthday outfit - she loves blue and shorts. It was freezing cold on her birthday - but she wore this outfit anyways.

7) Garden Time
I planted my lovely garden - peas, peppers, lettuce, carrots, onions, zucchinni, and pumpkins. Each of the girls picked a section to grow their own pumpkins and they love checking on their growth.

8) PLAY, PLAY, PLAY
We also were busy playing and playing and playing. My girls have the biggest imaginations and I love it.

Kaylee made snow skis for her doll Karissa and my couch is constantly transformed into a car.

I had to show this picture because this is an example of Kaylee's silliness. She got pretty silly by the end of the school year. It is fun to see her personality developing.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer. We are LOVING it so far.

Love ya -

“Is it Summer yet?”

I heard this phrase every morning during the month of May from JJ when I would wake him up for school. Needless to say the morning of June 4th he woke up and realized, “It is Summer Time,” with the biggest grin on his face. He played a duck in the Kindergarten production of “Ei, Ei, Oops” and had a line, “they are also sad and blue,” referring to a sheep and did a great job, laughing as he said it. He reads well and is at the level of almost a second grader, of course loves his video games, especially Super Mario Brothers. Anyone remember the TV show Super Mario Brothers Super Show? JJ loves it and laughs through the all the episodes. Jadyn doesn’t get the fact its summer time. She is going to summer school for three weeks in June so I don’t have to try and fully explain it yet. She loves school and thanks to their help she is speaking clearer and calming down faster when she gets upset. She of course is still Jadyn and dramatic but is our beautiful little girl who loves life and loves to see everything and everyone. She tells me all the time, “I love you too” even before you tell her. I am so glad she knows I love her without even saying it. She talks about her friends from school all the time and even said she was grateful for them in her prayers the other night.
Jaxson, heaven help me. He is…I don’t even know how to describe him. He is all over the place all day long. He goes and goes and goes. Going from one activity to the next, he knows how to make a mess of the house within 10 minutes. He will destroy the house if you aren’t paying attention. He gets one toy out, plays with it for a couple minutes and moves on to the next , then the next, then the next, forgetting to pick them up when he is done. We are working on that one.

Jonah is loved by his siblings very much. Jadyn just said, “I love you too, you are my little brother.” He has the biggest smile and laughs all the time. All my babies had thin legs but not Jonah, he is a cute little chub and has the rolls on his legs and arms. We have this bouncer that we put him in and he kicks his legs to bounce himself. Our cutie pie, love him.
Josh and Jill are doing good, tired, working, raising kids, going from here to there and everywhere.

Love you all and miss you. Have a lovely month on June.
Happy Fathers Day to all
The things our kids do when we aren't looking
