The Johnson Family

As I am typing this, I am holding baby Blake. I wanted to blog this month because it has been crazy and alot has happened. But, this post will mainly be pictures. My hands are holding Blake so it is a little difficult to type.

Halloween:
Girls had fun decorating pumpkins

Halloween tradition: Monster Pizza

Mermaid

Ballerina

Tinkerbell - the wig didn't last very long

Nicole jumped down the stairs and sprained her ankle. She wore a boot for a couple of weeks.

One day I woke up to snow, so we ran outside and quickly grabbed the onions, peppers, pumpkins, and some strawberries

Sweet Little Blake Warren Johnson was born on Oct 18 at 5pm. He was 6 weeks early, but strong!! **For complete details, go to my blog kimandwarren.blogspot.com

I was hospitalized at the beginning of October for 8 days and it was quite the challenge. Luckily, we had great friends, Mollie and Paul, and Pat too help us out.

Blake was hooked up to all sort of things after he was born.

Blake was able to come home after 7 days in the NICU and the girls couldn't wait to hold him.

I think he is pretty cute!!

ENJOY THANKSGIVING!!

Happy Halloween!

I know I am a little late but that is what I will be writing about. October was fun. Paul and I did the typical Halloween things. We carved pumpkins, had our traditional dinner in a pumpkin, handed out candy, and watched a scary movie - well, we watched Hocus Pocus. I don't think that is considered scary. This is the third year we have had our Halloween tradition. Time flies :)

What else happened in October? I can't remember - my pregnant brain is getting really bad. I had the Primary Program and that went well. It is the program where all the kids under the age of 12 at church sing and speak. They put on a program for the adults. It went great. The kids were adorable.

The baby...(no name yet) is doing well. She is growing and kicking :)

Work is almost over and that is all I have to say about that. Paul is great and enjoys his job and painting our house. Next month I will show all the cleaning and painting we have done.
Love you and talk later.

Mollie and Paul

Lovely me at 24 weeks! I am getting there.

Paul and our Dinner in a Pumpkin.

Mollie carving her pumpkin.

We were really proud of our pumpkins. They weren't as cool as last year but they are sweet. Paul did an owl on a tree and I did a witch brewing a potion. Pretty good :)

Hi from Wellington

We started out the month with a big celebration for dad's 60th Birthday. I got pictures of dad, but forget to get the Ditchburns and Overtons who helped us celebrated. Lorrine Ditchburn made a wonderful cake, from scratch. I don't think she has ever made anything from a box mix. She is also trying to help me knit. I have the knit stitch down pretty good, but the pearl gives me trouble, and I have yet to cast on, she does it for me. Oh, some day.
Dad loved all of his presents. The sunflower seeds are long gone, the cake and frosting were great, made cupcakes with them, and of course the list of "60" things about grandpa was the hit. He read them them to our quests, and was teary by the end.

On the Kiwi News blog, dad talked about the Books for Fiji service project. I did get out of the kitchen for a little bit to help, and to also take a picture or two. Dad is on the far left under the second "P" in Happy. So you don't think the sign has been up since June, Father's Day is in September here. Kathy Overton and I were to help Lorrine Ditchburn in the kitchen preparing the food, but that morning Lorrine suffered a mild stroke, so we took over fixing the meal. Lorrine is doing fine now, and has very few after affects from the stroke.
On Saturday, we decided to explore the Wellington area a little bit more, so we drove to the east side of Wellington Harbor or Harbour, which ever you perfer. There is a very long walk to, two lighthouses. We made it about half way and turned around. You really need to be prepared to walk 4 miles, with water, hiking boots and warm weather would be nice, but it was still a beautiful walk. We went through the driftwood that had washed up along the shore and found two that would work for walking sticks. We brought them home so dad carve something on them about New Zealand.

Some more fun things from New Zealand:
Tidy it up abit, usually work
Mop it up, not usually used in cleaning the floor, but cleaning up your work or life
Pop Off, leave or die
Biscuits, cookies
Jelly, Jello
Fizzy, Soda
Boot, trunk of a car
Bonnet, hood of a car
Munch and mingle, everyone brings food after Church, and visits
Fairy Bread, bread with butter and sprinkled with Hundreds and thousands (sprinkles)
Jangels, sandals
Tim Tam slam, have not tried this yet. You get TimTam cookie, bite off each end and use it as a straw in Milo.
Milo, the drink of choice if you don't drink coffee or tea
These past couple of weeks we have been doing Probate records from WWII. Dad will have a lot more on that on the Kiwi blog, but just a few notes. It has been very touching to read through the records. I will be preparing the documents and find the telegram that was sent to the wife or parents from the war department telling them that their son or husband has died or is missing, or letters from others soldiers who knew the one that died. Some of those letters are very difficult to read because of the detail that they go into about how they died. Sometimes there are even letters from the fallen soldier, that arrive after his death. There were alot of airmen that died, soldiers in Italy, and in the African desert. The real hard ones were the letters informing the families that after years in a prison camp, their son died close to the end war ended.
I never knew how much information are in Probate records. Today I saw one that had a copy of the persons birth, marriage, and death certificate, genealogiest would love it!

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!
