Summer Fun

At the beginning of May Josh was able to get time off, so we loaded the kids in the car and took them to Galveston Beach.

They had a blast.

It is a lot of work to take children on vacation, it's not so much a vacation for the parents. Thanks mom and dad for all the trips you took us on, I have a new appreciation.

We got down to Galveston, checked into the hotel and the first stop was the beach.

Jadyn and JJ were in heaven. They had been talking about going to the beach ever since we first mentioned it to them a few days before and once they saw the waves and water they couldn't contain themselves. Running up and down the beach jumping in the water, waiting for the waves to crash on them and both falling down once they got hit. They loved going out to the deeper parts of the ocean with daddy. Josh said they would go out where he could barely touch and kids would say, pointing to deeper ocean, "Out there daddy, out there!!!"

Jaxson did not find the waves as fun as the other two. He was happy just walking along the beach collecting his rocks and sea shells and there were plenty to be found.

The next day we got the kids up and went on the ferry to Crystal Beach. Crystal Beach was hit very hard during Ike and it was very sad to see stilts sticking out of the ground and no homes on top of them. Seeing signs about needing help and business washed away that Josh remembered going to as a teenager. It was very hard to see.

The beaches were quiet and so we found a little spot all alone where the tide came in and left a big pond. The kids had fun flying kites and trying to fish. The fishing didn't work well but we caught a few crabs and the kids got a kick out of the crabs running away sideways.

Of course mommy could not get a picture with the kids looking at the camera because they were just to busy.

What happens after such a busy day of water and fun in the sun:

The last day we were in Galveston we took the kids to the Aquarium and they saw all types of fish and sharks. Their favorites were the penguins.

We had so much fun with the kids and showing them so many new things: flying kites, fishing, sand castles, sea shells, etc. We both felt very lucky to spend that time with the kids and will never forget it.
