The Johnson Family

Hello Family-
The month of May was wonderful - one word to sum it up - BUSY!! We are crazy BUSY!!
Here is what is going on with us:

1) Warren is making progress on the basement. Framing is pretty much DONE and he is now working on the plumming. His pore wrists are hurting because of tearing apart the concrete floor to move some plumming around.

Every time Warren does something DANGEROUS he wants me to take a picture. While Warren was doing the above, the fire alarm went off about 4 times in 8 minutes and the girls were screaming

2) LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - Kaylee is now a 3rd grader and Nicole is going to repeat Kindergarten, BUT do it at Kaylee's school next year. They had a wonderful year. Kaylee got all A's and Nicole's test scores jumped up 1 entire point. Nicole's handwriting is also improving a ton. Thankfully, Nicole gets to have extra tutoring this summer - 3 days of one hour a day for 3 weeks. YAY!! We love extra help.

3) LAKE POWELL TRIP WITH FRIENDS and WASHINGTON, DC

First, I have no pictures of the trip because we forget our camera and had to use the work camera which ran out of batteries....but, Warren and I went to Washington, DC at the beginning of May and it was wonderful!! I want to go back. Pat and Mom watched the girls for us and I was so grateful!! If I ever find the pictures, I will post them on my blog. It was such a wonderful experience and fun to get the history bug again.

The week before school ended, we went to Lake Powell with 3 other families for 7 days. We stayed on a house boat and had a wonderful time.

The boys on the trip loved to catch lizards. My girls were pretty fascinated with the reptiles. By the end of the week, the boys had about 8 bottles full of lizards.

Kaylee got up on 2 skis without the skis being attached. She loved it and did a wonderful job.

The girls each took a turn riding on the surf board with Daddy. Taylor screamed and screamed. Nicole held on for dear life and Kaylee loved it.

One of the days was extremely windy, so we were stuck on the houseboat all day long. Kaylee had the idea of doing a talent show and the kids loved it. Kaylee showed how flexible she was and Taylor/Nicole did a dance.

The Mom's of the group would get in the freezing cold water wearing our life jackets as diapers so we could wash our hair. Our children LOVED it and would laugh and laugh.

Our lovely home - all of the families slept on the roof of the houseboat. It was such a wonderful time sleeping under the stars. A snapshot moment in my memory.

Kaylee loved reading a little bit everyday.

4)IMMIGRATION DAY FOR KAYLEE
The much anticipated day of the year finally came - Immigration Day. The school was turned into Ellis Island and the 2nd graders went through all the tests - they were checked for lice, given a test, showed their passports and family geneology. Kaylee was of course from Iceland and went above and behind her assignment. She prepared alittle talk and brought samples of Icelandic Food - pickled eggs. Surprisingly, the kids LOVED them.

5) MOTHER'S DAY
The day was great. Kaylee made me waffles, and the girls each bought me something nice. Warren bought me a BEAUTIFUL pearl necklace - lOVE IT!

6) NICOLE IS 6 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THIS SWEET GIRL

Nicole's favorite present was this American Girl Baby. She named her Kayla and loves her!!

I love this picture. She was so excited about her "Jonas Brother's" birthday cake. She wanted a Red Velvet cake - she definately keeps us guessing.

Nicole's birthday outfit - she loves blue and shorts. It was freezing cold on her birthday - but she wore this outfit anyways.

7) Garden Time
I planted my lovely garden - peas, peppers, lettuce, carrots, onions, zucchinni, and pumpkins. Each of the girls picked a section to grow their own pumpkins and they love checking on their growth.

8) PLAY, PLAY, PLAY
We also were busy playing and playing and playing. My girls have the biggest imaginations and I love it.

Kaylee made snow skis for her doll Karissa and my couch is constantly transformed into a car.

I had to show this picture because this is an example of Kaylee's silliness. She got pretty silly by the end of the school year. It is fun to see her personality developing.

Hope everyone is enjoying summer. We are LOVING it so far.

Love ya -
Johnson Family
