Happy New Year from Wellington

It is February, but this blog is all about January, so Happy New Year!!! We were busy during the month, but I don't have a lot of pictures. We, of course, were at the Archives working hard preparing and filming probates, but besides that we did take time off for fun. We saw several movies through out the month, Sherlock Holmes, Adventures of TinTin, War Horse and We Bought a Zoo. We had to see TinTin because we know people who worked on it. They work for Weta Productions and we sat through all the credits to see their names. On the 6th we had a senior missionary couples dinner to welcome the Turners who just arrived from the States. They will be working on the South Island in the small town of Westport. They are from Castle Rock, Colorado. On the 21st we had another senior couples dinner in Levin, but we first went to the Southward Car Museum. It is the Southern Hemisheres largest private car collection, so needless to say I only have a few pictures, too many cars, dad will have more.

I thought that this car was really unusual because it is made of copper. I am not sure it has ever been driven, but it was fun to look at

The downstairs was filled with cars, but one of a kind of cars. A Ronald MacDonald car, one of the first handicap cars, and below firetrucks.
I don't know if you can read the newspaper article, but this sweet couple had the same car for 39 years, put 78,000 miles on it doing shopping and drive around New Zealand, had very little trouble with it, and when they got to old to drive they gave it to the car museum.
On January 28th, we innocently went off for a short hike around Makara Beach and to have lunch. It turned into a 4 hour hike the was about 4 miles long. The elders were with us, and of course they had to climb every rock insight. It was a beautiful day and even though the hike was a little harder then we thought it would be, we had a great time. We pasted a wind farm, and old battlements left over from WWII that were used in the defense of the Island.

At the end of the month we went to Christchruch to help the two missionaries there, that are filming probates. They have had a hard time figuring things out, so hopefully we were able to help them a little bit. We were luckily that we had the Ditchburns right with us to teach us as we went along. This is dad with Sister Chilius and Sister Nation in the background.
Of course the best news of January was the birth of Lilah Ann. We were in Christchurch when we found out and were able to celebrate with the sisters there. We took my computer with us, so we were able to video chat with Mollie and Paul and see Lilah, so cute.
