Winter in Wellington

We have had a cold and rainy month of June.  July is not much better, but that will be for next month.  The picture on the left is of a house that is being moved. Our church bought the property so the parking lot could be enlarged. I thought they would just tear down the house, but no, they cut it in fourths and moved it somewhere. I have been told that they don't tear down perfectly good homes, they moved them somewhere, then people can come buy the house and then move it where they want too. On the right is New Zealand themed fabric that I bought so I can make a quilt when we get home.  When it is all done, it will be a good reminder of the time spent here in New Zealand.

Dad celebrating Father's Day. It is celebrated here on the first Sunday of September, so he will have two father's day this year.  The big treat were the 2 cans of Root Beer, at $2 a piece, there could only be 2 cans.

We went to an art show for Alison Anker, one of the girls from church.  We had no idea she was an artist until one Monday night we were talking about talents and she said she could paint, and asked what she would do with that talent, she said earn money to live. We all kinda laughed, thinking who really does that, and then she showed us some of her work. She studied botany and zoology at university so she could understand how everything works together.  You can see some of here work on her web site, www.alisonanker.com.

These are some more of the Young Single Adults from our ward, Kree, Jasmine, Krystal and Ephriam.
On June 8, we hit the 300,000 image filmed.  Big day, we stop, take a picture, then back to work
Thanks to the McVey kids and their wonderful gift. I will now have beautiful flowers to look at in the kitchen for the rest of our mission.
At the end of the month, we went to the Westside Studios.  It is only open a couple of times a year, so we thought how wonderful that we can go.  We thought it was an actual "studio" where they film, but no, I think it is a place where you can rent items for parties and events.  If you want a "Star Wars" party, you are in luck because everything is there.  Pirates, you in luck.  But I think they do rent for movies. They had the piano that was used in a movies, red carpets for movies opening and Santa's sleigh.

Alot of the normal stuff went on during the month like going to the Archives everyday, feeding the missionaries, teaching Sunday School, helping some of the kids with their Family History, Family Home Evenings and movies nights. So we stay pretty busy. Love to you all.
